ResoLex and CCMG merge creating dedicated construction mediation panel

Sir Philip Otton appointed to chair the new ResoLex Construction Contracts Mediators Panel. ResoLex (Holdings) Limited, the applied mediation specialists, has today announced that it is to merge the Construction Contracts Mediators Group (CCMG) into its group creating a dedicated construction mediation powerhouse. The merger will take effect from 1 May 2007. The ResoLex CCMG Panel will be chaired by Sir Philip Otton, retired court of appeal Judge and past president of the Society of Construction Law, and will offer 25 specialist mediators from various disciplines across the building and construction community. Edward Moore, operations and marketing director, ResoLex, said: "The creation of the ResoLex CCMG Panel brings together two organisations with a long track record and extensive expertise of mediation in the construction industry. Our panel of building and construction mediators is now one of the largest and most experienced in the country." John Wright, a partner at Lane & Partners LLP and the outgoing chair of CCMG said: "The mediation industry has grown and matured considerably since CCMG was established in 2000. There is an increasing need for a more sophisticated infrastructure to support and promote our panel of mediators and ResoLex provides this. It is a very natural fit and a common sense move for both parties. We look forward to a long and fruitful future under the ResoLex banner." Sir Philip Otton, FCIArb and Accredited Mediator, said on his appointment: "The panel will provide the construction industry with a body of mediation expertise and excellence to which it can turn in the event of disputes arising out of construction projects, wherever they may occur. I am very excited to be chairing this panel." ResoLex was launched in October 2000. It provides Contracted Mediation services whereby mediators work alongside a construction project from the outset establishing both a contractual framework for early resolution of contract differences as well as a culture which would encourage that framework to be used. ResoLex also offers X-tracker, a service which neutrally monitors hidden project risk with the help of some of the UK's leading risk specialists. X-Tracker sits alongside its Contracted Mediation services. In addition to its applied mediation services, in 2006 ResoLex launched Mediation Plus to offer mediation for commercial dispute resolution. CCMG was also established in 2000 bringing together a group of likeminded individuals offering dispute resolution and mediation services to the construction industry. CCMG offers mediators in various disciplines including architects, civil and structural engineers, M&E consultants, quantity surveyors as well as solicitors and barristers Moore adds: "ResoLex has established in the past six months a general mediation panel and now a construction mediation panel. It is our intention also to create an employment/human resources mediation panel and an IT/Telco mediation panel over the course of 2007."
