Biography

Bill Taylor MSc, CEng, FCMI, MIET, MICW “Helping businesses and people to operate at their very best”. Bill draws upon his extensive experience from the military, industry and academia in developing effective business relationships and collaborations. Bill has held very senior executive-level positions in UK and overseas businesses (Chairman, MD and Plc Executive Director level), has been a Visiting Professor at the University of Cranfield Defence Academy lecturing on Defence Technologies, and been a Director of an Aerospace Trade Association where he sponsored 2 post graduate students in a KTP programmes with Kingston University. As part of his Associate Director position within the Institute for Collaborative Working (ICW) (the founders of BS 11000 and ISO 44001) and within his own business interests, Bill currently provides extensive commercial and campaign/bid business-winning coaching and training to large corporations and helps form and sustain business collaborations.
As an Executive Coach and Accredited (ICW & ILM) BS 11000/ISO 44001 Practitioner, Bill has led and coached numerous large corporations, joint ventures and smaller organisations to align their business and commercial models, and supporting management systems to implement and/or achieve certification to the Standard for Collaborative Business Relationships (BS 11000/ISO 44001).
Organisations include Network Rail Infrastructure Projects (NRIP), Carillion Plc (Rail, Highways, Nuclear, Services Businesses), CarillionAmey, CarillionAramark, Amey, BAE Systems, Thales Transport, the Ministry of Defence (MOD) Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO), MODUS Services Ltd – MOD Main Building PFI, Abellio UK, ScotRail, Greater Anglia Rail, Northern Rail, Arriva, SSE Enterprise Contracting Ltd, Capita, Servest, Landmark, WYG, MODUS Services Ltd (MOD Main Building PFI), DynCorp, Northumberland Water, Affinitext, and Telefonica 02.
Bill has provided numerous executive briefings to corporate and operational Boards on the application of BS 11000/ISO 44001 and how its can enhance business performance and delivered numerous training sessions. As part of his work with the DIO where is is the Collaborative Working and ISO 44001 External Advisor, Bill has provided over 50 one day training courses throughout the UK and overseas during 2016/2017 and will deliver further training in 2018.
He is regularly asked to support work winning and bid work as a red team or grey beard panel member, building on his extensive training and coaching done over 10 years working as a consultant and/or trainer to many of the leading UK & overseas prime contractors, where he designed and provided bespoke training on: Understanding MOD Procurement, Business Winning, International Business, Availability Contracting, Contract Management, Effective CRM, Commercial Governance, and Customer Focus.
He has successfully supported organisations develop their collaboration approach and responses to client requirements including coaching and skills development for procurement under Competitive Dialogue and Negotiation – major projects include HS2- C1,C2 MWCs (£1-2Bn), Aquila Military Air Traffic Management (£1.3bn), Defence Fire & Rescue Programme (CAT A Programme), DIO NGEC FM Programme (£Bn), MBDA Loitering Munitions, DynCorp DSG project, SERCO (RPP), and BAE Systems and Carillion on various projects.
Bill is also engaged on several collaborative research programmes with Warwick University and the ICW Research Forum on collaborative benefit realisation, and collaborative behaviours, and in 2017 with the College of Estate Management Reading on Internal Collaboration.
