Richard Bayfield
Independent Consultant since 1991, acts as Project Management Consultant, Facilitator, Lecturer, Construction Adjudicator and Expert. Wide experience within the UK Construction Industry and currently reports at Board level to several high profile Client and Contractor organisations.
Independent career preceded by fourteen years "blue chip" experience after graduation in 1977, comprising two years as Associate Director and Senior Project Manager with Glanville Projects (specialist Project Managers) and over twelve years with the Costain Group, latterly as Project Manager reporting to a Director.
Consultancy
assignments tend to involve two opposite and complementary strands. The
first typically involves investigating or troubleshooting "failed"
projects, sometimes involving multi million pound disputes and reporting on key
technical and legal issues and risks to the board representatives. The second
involves strategic advice and subsequent implementation of systems and
procedures (i.e. best practice) to maximise project potential and limit risk.
The skills and knowledge relevant to the "strategic" role are complementary to
the "troubleshooting" role.
